The legendary BBC arts documentary series “Arena” has produced over 600 portraits of artists since the 1980s. A valuable audiovisual archive of culture and art has been generated, which many artists have accessed, including Martin Scorcese, who has regularly used it in his documentary work covering topics such as Bob Dylan and The New York Review of Books.

Executive Producer Anthony Wall, who also served as Co-Producer on The New York Review of Books, reports on his experiment of bringing this precious archive online, and how legal restrictions and dangers can be circumvented through editing techniques.
